The Hardangerfjord is, without doubt, a favorite among the many breathtaking Norwegian fjords, framed as it is by mountains reflected in the clear water and famous for its orchards. From the quay, your tour heads northeast, passing the Samnangerfjord. You continue towards Kvamskogen, a popular holiday and weekend destination of Bergen residents. The cottages, ("huts" in Norwegian), nowadays are far more comfortable than the word implies. Before you reach the Hardangerfjord, make a stop at the Steinsdalsfossen waterfall. It falls away from the cliff, enabling you to walk along a protected path behind the roaring waters. Then re-board the bus for the quick drive to Norheimsund. Enjoy some leisure time, explore, walk along the waterfront, or grab a snack and drink from a shop or market. Continue for an hour on road 49 along the Hardangerfjord, the queen of the fjords. View the majestic mountains on the opposite side and, in clear weather, the Folgefonna glacier, the third largest in Norway.
