Your first stop will be Claremont Farms, a private agricultural estate dedicated to growing the rare Antiguan Black Pineapple, prized for its taste and sweetness. Here, during a leisurely stroll, you’ll learn a few interesting facts about the Black Pineapple and have the opportunity to sample some of this delicious fruit. Your journey will then continue along Fig Tree Drive, through Antigua’s rainforest and on to the stunning sugar mill with a viewing platform dating back to the 1600s, nestled within the hills at the Mount Tabor Retreat. Here you will hear the history of the old slave area, see the remains of an old rum distillery, see where slaves would give birth to their children and take in the fantastic views over the rainforest and south coast vistas. Lastly, Weatherills Estate. Here, set in a historic, restored 17th-century colonial mansion is Weatherills Estate House, situated between Marble Hill and Blue Waters. The carefully restored estate house, one of Antigua’s most productive sugar mills, has been given new life as an elegant boutique hotel and restaurant. The property and tour here offer a trip back into history; there’s even a functioning windmill on the property which can be climbed up to take in the fabulous view over Antigua. Your return drive will pass by Antiguan countryside, local village life, and your awaiting ship at the pier. Board your snorkel boat at the cruise pier and enjoy a scenic cruise through the islands to Virgin Gorda. Your snorkel boat will anchor off the famous rock formations known as the Baths while the snorkel guides will provide snorkel vests, masks, fins and tubes before leading you in a 300 yd swim in open water from the boat to the sand beach at one of the Baths beaches. Swim from the beach, snorkel around the rocks before exploring the trail through the giant boulders to the next beach. Relax on the sand before the return swim/snorkel back to the boat. Relax on board and enjoy the return trip down the channel to the ship. Note: The trail is uneven with some protruding rocks. Wear a swimsuit and bring a towel and adequate sun protection. Your journey takes you past uninhabited islands and the island of St. John preserved for posterity by Laurence Rockefeller as a nature reserve, before arriving at Sopher’s Hole - the first landing place by European settlers in these islands. The tour continues along the north shore of Tortola through small fishing villages before ascending to the ridge road, which twists its way along the ridge of the island offering spectacular views of Tortola and the surrounding islands.
