Located in a lush rainforest at the northeastern end of the island, the ruins date back to about 100 B.C. and were originally a shrine dedicated to the Mayan fertility goddess Ixchel. Explore the ruins of some 40 temples, and add your speculation as to the origin and meaning of the small red handprints that are painted on the inside of the Temple of the Hands. Next, it's tequila time at Mexico Lindo, where your hosts will take you through the process of making Mexico's most emblematic drink, starting with an introduction to the amazing agave plant, and guide you through a private tasting of the range of tequilas from clear "silver" non-aged to caramel-colored extra añejo (ultra-aged) and fruited tequilas. Feel the wind whip across your face and the sun shining brilliantly as you glide across bright-blue Caribbean waters on the Oculus, a sightseeing boat equipped with a 10-foot glass viewing window. Hear tales of the Cali, a freighter ship that sprung a leak in its hull while carrying a heavy load of rice — spotted eagle rays and tarpon now swim among its wreckage. You'll then motor overtop the Balboa, a 375-foot ship that sunk in the middle of Georgetown Harbor during a tropical hurricane in 1932.
