Spend approximately three hours enjoying the beach of Deauville, an elegant seaside resort town and longtime favorite of film celebrities and royalty. Its nickname is “Queen of the Norman Beaches,” and it’s easy to see why. Ever since the 1860s, wealthy Parisians considered Deauville their playground. Today, the town is still glitzy and glamorous, teeming with designer boutiques, high-end hotels, well-manicured public gardens and oceanfront restaurants to see and be seen. Deauville is also host to the high-profile American Film Festival as well as other special events held throughout the year. After swimming or relaxing on the sand, be sure to take a stroll along the famous Promenade des Planches, a boardwalk paralleling the seaside and running the whole length of the beach. Keep on the lookout for the beach cabins named after famous movie starts. And stop for some lunch at one of the many restaurants along the promenade — the atmosphere and seascape views truly make for an unforgettable experience.
