Visit the Green Grotto Caves, located on the scenic North Coast, approximately 3 km from the spot where Christopher Columbus landed in 1494. The caves were sought after as a hideout by the Spanish during the takeover of the island by the English in 1655 and is said to have been a haven for runaway slaves in the 18th Century. For approximately 45 minutes, your Tour Guide will take you on a walking adventure through the caves with its series of interconnected passageways and chambers; viewing the stalactites, stalagmites, flora and fauna found within and around the caves. Continue down 65 steps to view the translucent lake, “The Grotto” where a James Bond movie was filmed. On your outward journey, stop at the “Wishing Well” and throw in a coin for luck, love or for all your heart’s desires. At the end of your tour, enjoy a cup of tropical fruit punch while you shop at the Caves souvenir shop or enjoy the tropical landscape.
