Savor an opportunity to not only learn about chocolate, literally from the ground up, but to experience making your own chocolate from St. Lucia's prized trinitario cocoa beans, grown on the Howelton Estate, a cocoa plantation set in the hills above Castries. Your hands-on chocolate making experience starts with you manual grinding cocoa nibs with a mortar and pestle until they transform into liquefied chocolate. Next, add flavorings that will personalize your chocolate bar, and pour into a waiting chocolate mold. While the chocolate solidifies during a 20-minute cooling period, you'll have a chance to enjoy a beverage from the Cellar Bar, and take in the beautiful view of the city below, or browse the gift shop. When class resumes, your chocolate bar will be ready to wrap in foil and take with you as a distinctive souvenir your chocolate-making endeavor in St. Lucia. On your next stop, the Pink Plantation, you'll be treated to views of St. Lucia's northern landscape, enjoy snacks and refreshments and see or purchase hand-painted ceramics from St. Lucia artist Michelle Elliot.
