Expand your senses with a fantastic combination excursion giving you a colorful overview of the greater Portland area, of the city’s highlights, Portland Head Light and the charming seaside town of Kennebunkport. Starting with a scenic drive through the quaint streets of the Old Port where the street lanterns highlight a gracious mix of architectural styles. Passing Fort Allen Park, Munjoy Hill on the Eastern Promenade with terrific views of Casco Bay and the islands. Continue past Americas Marine Iconic landmark the Portland Observatory, a beautiful façade of the City Hall. Once passing the Arts District, continue along the picturesque coastline of Maine and the charming seaside town of Cape Elizabeth. Arrive at the oldest lighthouse in Main, Portland Head Light. First illuminated on January 10, 1791, Portland Head Light has since stood at the gateway to Portland Harbor for mariners traveling Maine’s perilous coast. A short memorable photo stop will be made before continuing a spectacular scenic drive through Kennebunkport. Being captivated by the visual manicured beauty of Kennebunkport, you will pass the stunning Federal and Victorian style mansions erected by wealthy sea captains and merchants in the 1700’s and 1800’s. Here you will pass Walker’s Point, the Bush estate and former Summer White House where world leaders often gathered. Along the rocky shoreline of Kennebunk beach, you will view the restored quaint turn of the century cottages which have been transformed into beautiful guest homes and Inns. Continuing along Ocean Avenue, see the magnificent summer homes of wealthy residents from Boston and New York that have made Kennebunkport their summer playground for over a century. A free time stop in the center of Kennebunkport at Dock Square of approximately 90min. Meander through the quaint picturesque bayfront streets lined with galleries, unique boutiques, antique stores and local delicious delights. You have time to enjoy lunch or a snack on your own in one of the many fine restaurants, outdoor cafes, or pubs, before returning to the ship.
