A Stroll Through Lisbon
Take a guided stroll through distinct areas of Lisbon, tasting local delicacies along your way. Walking in Alfama, the oldest part of the city, feel as if you've traveled back in time as you amble narrow alleys and streets, passing tiny squares, historic churches, buildings with belvederes and whitewashed houses. Marvel at the wrought-iron balconies adorned with flowers, and stop for photos at the Portas do Sol viewpoint. Head to the 12th-century Lisbon Cathedral for more photos. In downtown, walk along Rue Augusta, beholding the triumphal mid-18th-century arch at the end of the thoroughfare. Reaching Rossio, the heart of Lisbon, meander amid a square dating back to the Middle Ages. Enjoy a bit of free time browsing typical stores. Be sure to try some of Portugal's best-loved treats, including pastel de nata (a delicious pastry with custard) and bolinho de bacalhau (tasty codfish cakes).
