Accessible Harrison's Cave Experience

Start your tour by meeting your driver and accessible van at the Barbados cruise dock. From here, you will head out on a scenic drive to the center of Barbados, Harrison's Cave, where you will enter the visitor center and take a special elevator down to the ground level of the cave entrance. As you wait to board the tram, you will have time to enjoy the beautiful setting which holds small little handicraft shops, a small botanical garden area, and an exhibit of indigenous artifacts that have been excavated from various sites around the island. Start your day by meeting your guide and accessible van at the St. Lucia cruise dock. In Anse La Raye, you will exit the van by the small center square to get out and explore firsthand. Take a stroll down the small pier, meet local fishermen and see what they caught for the day, make your way around the charming little city streets with traditional small cottages, and visit the beautiful old cathedral from the early 16th century. As your tour continues to the city of Soufriere, you will make several photo stops along the way. Not only is St. Lucia lush and rich in produce, it is a volcanic island which provides some amazing views, including the Pitons. While the Pitons volcano site is not wheelchair accessible, one can still see them from afar and capture some beautiful photos. In the popular Diamond Botanical Garden, your tour guide will take you on a spectacular stroll while sharing all that he knows about the fauna and produce of the island. The path in the garden is accessible with no steps or steep inclines. As you near the end of the Gardens, the path transitions into an adventurous gravel trail for the final two minutes. Named by sailors amazed at the birds living and nesting there, Great Bird Island is a miniature paradise. White-sand beaches at either end of the sandbar are the main attraction. You will receive snorkeling instruction before you put on your mask, fins, and buoyancy vest and snorkel with expert guides in the crystal-clear waters. Or you can simply swim or relax and soak up the sun on the beach. We will hike a hilltop trail for wonderful views of the outlying islands and Antigua. It’s ideal for spotting migrating whales (December to May), sea turtles, and many varieties of birds that nest here year-round. Bring binoculars! While it is best known for its two superb beaches and surrounding coral reefs, this area is also the only place you may see an Antiguan racer in the wild. They are about 20 cm long, non-venomous, and harmless. It is also home to a variety of endangered creatures including exotic red-billed tropicbirds, brown pelicans, rare lizards, West Indian whistling ducks, and the magnificent frigatebird (man o’ war bird).
