Begin your Kingstown tour with a drive through the bustling capital of Kingstown, where you'll see historical and modern buildings, and in the center of town, the Cenotaph or War Memorial, which stands in memory of the brave Vincentians who fought and died during World War I. Arrive at the St. Vincent Botanical Gardens, established in 1765, and considered to be one of the oldest gardens in the Western Hemisphere. Within this 20- acre site you'll view a variety of tropical flora, including a breadfruit tree, which is derived from a suckling brought to St Vincent by the infamous Captain Bligh. Keep your eyes peeled for the island's national bird, the endangered Amazona Guildingii. Then, you'll re-board your bus for scenic hour-long journey to reach the Montreal Gardens, tucked away in the interior of the Mesopotamia. The Gardens are located at about 3,017 feet above sea level and afford fantastic views of the surrounding hills, valleys and banana fields. Enjoy strolling the Gardens, beautifully designed by the landscape designer Timothy Vaughan, as your guide points out the most interesting flora and fauna that surround you.
