This Grand Cayman shore excursion gives you a memorable overview of this beautiful island. Experience the Cayman Turtle Centre, see the formations of “Hell” and visit the famous Tortuga Rum Company. Start your day by meeting your guide and accessible van at the Georgetown cruise dock. From here, you will head out on a beautiful scenic drive past the Governor’s Residence and the Seven Mile Beach area, and see the traditional architecture of a Caymanian Cottage and the many native fruit trees in the district of West Bay. Next, you will continue to the first stop of the day, the popular Cayman Sea Turtle Centre. While here, you will have a chance to take pictures with some of the smaller turtles, and see everything from new turtle hatchlings all the way up to some of the largest turtles weighing up to 600 lbs. You will also learn about the conservation efforts of the facility and have a chance to tour the Caribbean Aviary, Butterfly Gardens, Cayman Street and view the sharks at Predator Reef. After a visit with the turtles, you will continue to the unique rock formations of Hell. Hell is a group of short, black, limestone formations, created by salt and lime deposits over 24 million years. The last stop of your day will be the famous Tortuga Rum Company outlet where you can sample various rum cakes and rum available for purchase.

You will meet your guide for a full briefing before donning your safety equipment and heading off on your 250cc ATV. Into the district of West Bay, the Old Homestead (An original Caymanian home) will trigger your imagination of the older architecture of homes. Completing the western attractions is the unique natural limestone formations that gave this site the name “Hell”. Then, head south along the coast on your way to the Blow Holes (a natural geyser-like blow effect, that can reach up to 15 feet, with the power of wind and water pressure combined) for a few photos. then on the way to The Wreck of the Ten Sails where you can enjoy the panoramic view of the Caribbean from the low cliffs, as you look out over the site of an ancient shipwreck that shaped the history of the Cayman Islands in 1794. Your tour continues to Seven Mile Beach where you will have time to purchase a snack, a drink, or just take photos of this beautiful beach. Uncover the mysterious legacy of the Maya while on a nine -hour trip that takes you from the well-preserved ruins of Tulum and its El Castillo castle to the Casa Tortuga cenote for swimming in the cool waters of a sacred Mayan sinkhole. The discovery begins on foot as you see what remains of the 13th-century archaeological site of Tulum, once a central hub for the turquoise and jade trade. Admire mural paintings covering the Temple of the Frescoes and learn about the Mayan spiritual traditions at the Temple of the Descending God. Follow the 16-foot-thick city walls to the El Castillo centerpiece, a stucco castle poised on a limestone bluff overlooking a white-sand Caribbean shoreline. Hear tales of the sailors who eyed the beacon and the folklore surrounding Kukulcan, god of winds. You'll then venture nearby to Casa Tortuga, one of the many underground cenote sinkholes on the Yucatan Peninsula. Then you’ll hop on an air-conditioned bus Southbound for approximately 40 minutes until you reach the majestic ancient Mayan ruins of Tulum. Perched atop seaside limestone cliffs, with many important temples, stucco paintings, and shrines used for ceremonial rituals, your guide will share with you their vast knowledge of this incredible archaeological site over 700 years old. For more than two hours you’ll have the honor of exploring the only Mayan ruins with beachfront property, and one of the few that document the arrival of the Spaniards. From the most prominent building, El Castillo, you will have panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea and perhaps imagine how alien their arrival must have been perceived. Returning to Playa del Carmen you will be brought back to the present day. You’ll have some free time to stroll the world famous 5th Avenue. Paralleling the waterfront, this nearly two and a half mile long pedestrian walkway is flanked by international restaurants, brand name stores, high-end boutiques as well as local artisans and vendors. Take it all in before boarding the ferry back to Cozumel and your ship.
