Set out for an adventure like no other, on a kayaking expedition that takes you across Mendenhall Lake for an up close view of Juneau’s resident glacier, offers thrilling sightings of Alaskan wildlife, sends you paddling past icebergs in view of towering mountain cliffs, and delivers you to a salmon bake feast in the rainforest. Raingear (boots, jacket, pants), lifejackets, instruction and equipment orientation are all supplied — just bring your can-do spirit and a hearty sense of adventure. Partner up according to kayaking ability, then admire the richness of wildlife and dramatic scenery as you paddle across Mendenhall Lake, coming within a safe distance of the awe-inspiring face of the Mendenhall Glacier and beautiful Nugget Falls. After paddling, refuel at the Gold Creek Salmon Bake, an all-you-can-eat Alaskan feast. Chow down on alder-grilled, wild-caught salmon with all the trimmings, served with your choice of water, lemonade, tea, coffee, or hot chocolate. After your feast, indulge in a marshmallow roast at the fire pit, stroll to a majestic waterfall where you can get a good look at on-site mining relics and explore the gift shop. Return to the ship at your leisure, with shuttle departures about every 20 minutes.
