Be one of the lucky few to behold the natural splendor of Alaska while canoeing across serene Mendenhall Lake as you navigate past icebergs and spot wildlife, venturing within safe distance of the awe-inspiring face of Mendenhall Glacier and beautiful Nugget Falls. A quick 30-minute drive takes you to the launch point where you will be supplied with raingear (boots, jackets, and pants), lifejackets, instruction and equipment orientation. Partner up according to ability, then set out to explore the richness of wildlife and dramatic scenery around Juneau’s resident glacier. You will paddle a stable, 28-foot, traditional Tlingit-style canoe, skirting the base of the powerful Nugget Falls. While on the beach near the falls, refuel for the return paddle with crackers and smoked salmon spread, a traditional Alaskan-style snack. Total paddling time is approximately 2 hours 20 minutes, with a break of about 20 minutes.
