This tour offers a chance to experience the Taku Glacier from 3 different perspectives, by helicopter, by boat and by glacier landing. Your exciting tour begins with a scenic flight high above Juneau, the Tongass National forest, the Juneau Ice Field, Gastineau Channel, and Taku River. Upon arrival at Taku Point, you will be greeted by our friendly staff and provided with flotation jackets, hearing protection, and a safety briefing for the airboat. This is an ideal location for a photo opportunity, with the incredible glacier landscape across the river, and the intense greens of the northern rain forest surrounding. The captain will assist you on to the airboat, which is covered for your comfort and protection from the elements, while sides remain open for the best possible views and photo opportunities. During this 60 minute airboat adventure on the Taku River, you will experience up-close views of the Taku Glacier as you cruise the 5-mile terminus of the only advancing glacier of the Juneau Ice Field, and come within arm's reach of it's ice face. The Airboat captain will stop the boat in various locations for photos, and to provide informative narration about the glacier and the river basin that it has carved over the years. Once back at Taku Point, you'll leave the airboat to rejoin the helicopter that will take you up, up, up to the top of the Taku Glacier. Step out of the helicopter and set foot on the amazing 4500' thick ice for your brief glacier landing. Photo opportunities abound, and your pilot will share details about the ice field, and facts specific to the Taku Glacier. The helicopter will return you to the heliport, and the van will provide return transportation to the pier. Get away from the crowds, and enjoy the adventure of a lifetime by air, water, and ice!
