Explore Marlborough wine country on this gentle and scenic 8-kilometer bike ride through the countryside, with wine tastings at three local wineries and stunning scenery. Leave Picton by van to the Vines Village in the heart of the world-renowned Marlborough wine region, where you'll have your first “cellar door” experience and taste three wonderful examples of Marlborough’s world class wines, an excellent introduction to the wines of the Marlborough region. Then, after a safety briefing and gearing up with a bike and helmet, you'll be matched with a bike and begin your guided scenic cycle along the breathtaking riverbank to two more of Marlborough's boutique wineries. Ride through the lovely countryside, admiring views of Marlborough's vineyards. The biking is flat and easy and is suitable for all fitness levels – a lovely way to connect each of the wineries while getting off the beaten track. At the second winery you will taste a full range of Marlborough’s wine varieties including Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir. Continue your bike ride along peaceful country roads. Before arriving at the final winery, you'll stop at a vineyard where you'll learn about the seasonal cycles that shape the grapes. In a private room, sit down to a delightful lunch of local food paired with a wine tasting. Browse the winery shops and bring home a nice bottle.
