This 7.5-hour adventure begins with a guided walking tour of the open-air museum of Ephesus. Walk under the Magnesian Gate into the UNESCO World Heritage Site, viewing what remains of its Great Theater and the stately Library of Celsus. Next, you'll travel to the mouth of the Maeander River to discover Miletus, one of the wealthiest cities during ancient Greek times. Trace its roots back to the Neolithic period, learning about its importance as an Ionian harbor town. Your route will take you past its crumbling theater, original reliefs, and Faustina baths where locals once relaxed. Prepare to be captivated by Magnesia on the Maeander, an ancient city with a rich history dating back almost three millennia. Explore the ruins nestled among fig orchards and farms, and imagine the city's past glory. Visit the temple to Artemis, designed in the Ionic style by the architect Hermogenes. After Lunch, your bus will take you back to Kusadasi where there will be a refreshment stop with a brief carpet presentation. Or, if you wish, you may return directly to the ship which is within walking distance.
