Your adventure begins with a 90-minute coach ride from Livorno to The Field of Miracles, Pisa's main square. If you've always wanted to experience the legendary Leaning Tower of Pisa, and perhaps to climb it, the time has come. Follow your escort to the site before climbing each of the 294 steps to reach the top. Built to display Pisa's importance and prestige, the bell tower began leaning during construction because of a weakness in the foundation. Though efforts have been made to correct it, the tower still leans slightly. After you've experienced this engineering marvel, a UNESCO World Heritage site, refresh your senses with a delicious gelato at Miracles Square. Then it's off for a drive to Viareggio to enjoy a Mediterranean beach day complete with sun-bed and umbrella. Viareggio is a nice seaside town known as the first beach resort destination in Italy and its resorts are legendary. Upon arrival, choose to have a swim or enjoy a tasty meal.
