Destination Highlight: Vasa Maritime Museum, Old Town and Swedish Fika
Sightsee on a guided tour and also explore on your own as you visit some of Stockholm's most iconic sites and loved areas of the city. Learn firsthand about Sweden's seafaring culture at the Vasa Museum, built around a 17th-century warship, the Vasa, which sank in Stockholm's inner harbor on her maiden voyage in 1628. Salvaged more than 300 years later and carefully restored to much of its former glory, the Vasa represents an authentic piece of living history. The architecturally distinctive maritime museum, built in 1989, is said to be the most visited in Scandinavia. Enjoy a drive through the city center and then sit down to enjoy a traditional Swedish "fika," Sweden's version of afternoon tea, where you will be treated to coffee and a cinnamon bun and have the opportunity to chat with fellow guests. Refreshed and rested, set out to explore the narrow alleys of Old Town on your own.
