As you tour Girona’s historic city center, you will understand why this beautifully preserved medieval town was chosen to film scenes for the popular Game of Thrones. The beautiful town of Girona, known as the "immortal city”, is rich in historic treasures, making this one of the most interesting monumental cities in Spain. You will visit the interesting area of El Call, the Jewish Quarter, where you walk through one of the best-preserved Jewish quarters inhabited for almost seven centuries and visit the Jewish Museum. Also you will have the chance to see the medieval walls of the city and the remains of the Torre Gironella, destroyed by Napoleon during his retreat in 1814 (good walkers only). At the very heart of the Jewish Quarter are the Arab Baths with their beautiful arches. In spite of its name, the 12th century construction of the baths is western Romanesque style. After this, we will drive towards the Empordà area to have lunch at Finca Bell lloc. The wine cellar is an underground space integrated in the landscape which was designed by the architects RCB (awarded with the Pritzker in 2017). It is hidden, below the vineyard, and this gives this cellar a special, mysterious essence. The gastronomic lunch is created by the local chef, Ángel, who offers traditional menus of Catalan cuisine, which are not only healthy but funny. The products used have been recognized with the seal of quality: Girona Quality. Ingredients are fresh, most of them obtained directly from the vegetable garden and farmyard, where they have chickens, sheeps, goats and Iberian pigs (fed mainly with acorns), while the fish is brought directly from the port of Palamós and it is one of the star products.
