After a short beach walk, set out on a powered catamaran and head offshore into the Turks Bank, an important breeding ground for the North Atlantic Humpback whales. Your captain will navigate to areas where whales are most commonly sighted looking for them. Once offshore, keep watch for these incredible animals as they surface, breach, and interact in their natural environment. The marine biologist onboard will provide insight into whale behavior, migration patterns, and the significance of these waters during the breeding season. When whales are sighted, the captain will slow down and carefully maneuver the vessel to provide optimal viewing opportunities while maintaining a safe and respectful distance from the whales. As this experience takes place offshore on the Atlantic Ocean, conditions can be exposed. The vessel is an open boat, and guests should expect a potentially bumpy ride, and sea spray, with a high likelihood of getting wet. Boarding and disembarkation take place directly from the beach and require a walk of approximately 10 minutes on sand and uneven surfaces, as well as stepping into shallow water and climbing a ladder to board. While whale sightings are common during the season, they cannot be guaranteed, as this is a natural wildlife experience.
