Your adventure begins with a visit to Grand Palace, previously the residence of the kings of Thailand. You'll see Wat Phra Kaew, the elaborate chapel of the Emerald Buddha. The palace, an architectural masterpiece, is a treasure trove of golden stupas, colorful mosaics, gleaming walls and towering columns. Admire the rich excess of it all, then hop into a tuk tuk (so called because of the sounds they make) to ride through the Bangkok streets, passing landmark buildings. After a leisurely lunch, visit Suan Pakkard Palace to admire the private collections of Royal Highnesses Prince and Princess Chumbhot of Nagara Svarga. This traditional Thai-style building, originally a home, opened to the public in 1952, containing their private collection of antiquities which has been passed down through successive generations. The Suan Pakkad Palace is a combination of fine arts and ancient artifacts from the era of H.R.H. Prince Paribatra Sukhumbandhu, son of His Majesty King Chulalongkorn, Rama V. Delight in the drama and history of these carefully preserved pieces.
