Destination Highlight: Coastal Botanical Gardens and Boothbay Harbor
Explore the naturally gorgeous Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens and the quaint village of Boothbay Harbor. Located just outside of picture-perfect Boothbay, the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens is an expansive, 248-acre complex of waterside gardens, a natural habitat that has been gently grown into a manicured state with pathways through the mossy forest, ornamental gardens with different themes and flowers, plus an alley of more than 1,000 birch trees. One of the most unforgettable trails runs along much of the tidal shoreline. Enjoy a guided walk led by a garden docent, followed by some free time on your own. Then discover the charms of Boothbay Harbor, where you can look out over Linekin Bay or take a walk through the Boothbay Harbor Region Sculpture Trail or Boothbay Harbor's Museum in the Streets, with two dozen historic landmarks. Don't forget to peruse local eateries to enjoy Maine's renowned local cuisine and maybe follow up with a little downtown shopping amongst the local galleries, shops and co-ops.
