Board your coach, which first will take you to the former medieval harbor, Almedalen. Today a park with great views if the medieval town-walls, houses, and church ruins that stretches skyways. It is also the site for the famous Political Week that takes place here a week in July every year gathering the whole elite of Swedish politicians. Walk towards Visby´s oldest building, the Powder Tower, dating from the 11th century and continue through the Fisherman’s gate to the Botanical Gardens, with many rare plants and famous for the many various kinds of roses. Just a short peak inside before your re-board your coach and travel along the outside of the wall to an area just north of Visby town, called Galgberget. Galgberget is a high lime-stone cliff with a beautiful view of the ocean and the outskirts of Visby. and at the end of the cliff you can see 3 stone-pillars standing in a circle which are the remaining ruins of a “gallows”. These gallows are Northern Europe´s only remains of a gallows, which in earlier times were used for executions. Return to Visby. Walk across the moat, surrounding the medieval town-wall for about 3,5 km, but that has never been filled with water. Continue through the Dalmans Gate and walk through the cozy alleyways passing picturesque old houses flanked by flowers, to the great viewpoint right above the St Mary’s Cathedral. Enjoy the magnificent view across the sea, over old houses and rooftops and not the least over the Cathedral, built by German merchants at the end of the 11th century during the late 12th to early 14th centuries, and still in use. This is probably the place to take some of your best photos! Return to your coach through one of the old gates. Tour ends pierside.

This journey takes you through the scenic landscape north of Copenhagen. Once our tastebuds are satisfied, we will then drive through the beautiful countryside to Fredensborg Castle which is Queen Margrethe II summer residence. It is attractively located in the middle of a lovely park surrounded by the idyllic Esrum Lake. Here you will have time to stretch your legs – and if you are lucky, you may catch a glimpse of the King’s family, who reside in one of the wings. Continuing we will stop at Frederiksborg Castle which is considered by many to be the most beautiful castle in Denmark. This magnificent castle is situated on three islands in the middle of a tiny lake. From the main courtyard you see the spectacular Neptune Fountain and the numerous 17th century copper spires, which appear to reach for the sky and really make a lasting impression. Leaving the castle we then drive though the beautiful forest and through. the countryside ending in the city for a city sightseeing tour. Once back in the city we will first go to the Nyhavn area. This colorful and lively waterfront district was once the favorite haunt for sailors. Today the canal district is lined with 350-year-old gabled houses, pavement cafes and bars. Author Hans Christian Andersen lived at three different addresses along the Nyhavn canal. Then drive through the city center and see all the main sights at The City Hall Square, Christiansborg Castle, home of the Danish Parliament and the Royal Reception Rooms and of course a photo stop at the Little Mermaid before we conclude our tour back at the Pier.

Destination Highlight: Gotland Countryside and West Coast Tour

Drive along the lovely west coastline of Gotland and visit the old fishing village of Kronvalls before continuing to the burial place of Gannarve from the Iron Age. The grave is surrounded by large stones standing upright at an angle, reminiscent of a ship's prow. It's one of about 350 graves of this shape in Gotland and had been destroyed over the ages, but was reconstructed when archeologists discovered it in 1959. We travel north on Gotland to reach Fårösund, where we have to catch the small ferry to cross over the bay to Fårö. The ferry ride takes only 7-8 minutes, but in summertime there is a long waiting line of cars and buses who all want to go over, so the wait can be long sometimes. Fårö Island is where the famous film director Ingmar Bergman filmed 4 of his movies as well as two documentaries. He made his home at Fårö, and his grave is at Fårö Churchyard. You will hear the story of how Ingmar Bergman came to, and lived on Fårö. The rauk field on Fårö is the main attraction, you cannot visit the island and not see these beautiful stone sculptures, made by the sea over thousands of years. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. After taking the ferry back to the Gotlandic mainland we have a scenic drive back to Visby. The tour finishes with a guided scenic drive back to pier in Visby.
