Small Group: Drottningholm Palace and Court Theater

Enjoy the magnificence of Drottningholm Palace, Sweden's first UNESCO World Heritage List, and its French-inspired formal gardens and natural park areas inspired by the English-style garden. This picturesque waterfront marvel built on an island and rebuilt in the mid-1600s has been the residence of the Swedish royal family since 1981 but was once a summer retreat for royals and the venue for vibrant and elaborate court life including masquerades and lavish parties. The palace grounds also house a church, finished in 1746, used by the nearby village residents to the present day. The royal family occupies a wing of the palace but the rest of the palace and grounds are yours to discover. Visit the magnificently decorated State Apartments and marvel at the beauty of the rooms. At the Drottningholm Court Theater, you will be met by a specialist guide. The famous Drottningholm Court Theatre is one of the world’s most famous theatrical establishments over 250 years old. Fully restored, this 18th-century theatre is unique in that its original sets, stage machinery, and props are in perfect working order and still in use. Lastly, walk through the park, absorbing the nature around you, as you make your way to a café next to the Royal Drottningholm Palace.
